FAQs

Who is eligible for this treatment?

Weight loss medication is typically prescribed for adults with a BMI ≥27.5 (Asians) or ≥30 (non-Asians), or BMI ≥23 (Asians) or ≥25 (non-Asians) with a weight-related condition such as pre-diabetes, PCOS or hypertension. You may use our BMI calculator to check your eligibility or speak to our doctors to find out suitability for treatment.

What can I expect from treatment?

Results vary from person to person especially taking into account lifestyle and diet.

However, clinical research from studies of these medications have been proven to successfully reduce body weight in 85% of patients with the average weight loss being 9.5kg. Majority of patients from these studies were able to achieve and maintain clinically meaningful weight loss in the long term with balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.

You are expected to lose 5% or more of your body weight after the first 16 weeks of treatment. If you do not achieve 5% weight loss, you are advised to discontinue use of medication and speak to our doctors for alternative treatments.

What are the medications available?

Due to Malaysian regulations, we are unable to list this class of treatments by name. You can speak to our doctors during the online consultation to learn about the specific options available.

We have medications in injectable and oral pill formats and works to support healthy metabolism and suppress appetite.

How should I take the medications?

For injectables, the medication is injected via a pen (tiny needle — like a pinprick) in the upper thigh or abdomen. It is a simple process and your medication comes with an information leaflet with breakdown on instructions for all steps from refilling pen with needle, injecting and discarding needle. Our customer service is available to help you whenever you need help or clarifications.

For oral pills, directions of use will be printed on our prescription label pasted on your medication box.

What else should I do to achieve better results?

While medications are proven to be quick and effective, we believe that a healthy lifestyle is the key to maintaining long-term weight goals.

Your weight loss treatment includes nutritional guide sent to you via email to give guidance on diet and portion size to ensure you achieve the best results. Our dedicated team of dietician and nutritionists will help you make healthier food and lifestyle choices through targeted behavioural changes to accompany your medication treatment and reach your goals sustainably.

Are the medications safe? Are there side effects from these medications?

These medications are considered safe, have been widely used since 2005 and are generally very well tolerated, with minimal side effects. All our medications are also approved by the FDA for weight loss treatments.

If you experience any side effects such as nausea, headaches, dizziness or stomach pain please delay your next application by one week and contact our customer care team.

For patients with a personal or family history of thyroid related illness, kidney disease, gallbladder disease, pancreatitis, or gastrointestinal issues, there is a higher risk for rare side effects. Please speak to our doctors on your family and medical history to determine your suitability for treatment.

Weight loss medications should not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If a patient wishes to become pregnant, or pregnancy occurs, treatment should be discontinued.
